User-Owned Recovery
User-owned encrypted backup for communication continuity.
Xentrop .xbk backup is designed so account continuity can be controlled by the user or buyer policy instead of becoming a server-side recovery authority.
What .xbk Backup Does
.xbk is Xentrop's encrypted, storage-agnostic continuity file. It can preserve identity, profile, contacts, conversations, messages, calls, and environment configuration.
- - encrypted before storage
- - controlled by the user or buyer policy
- - can be stored locally, offline, or wherever policy permits
- - designed to avoid hosted identity recovery capsules
Why It Matters
Hosted recovery can become a security liability. Xentrop keeps recovery authority outside relay infrastructure so the vendor does not become the account recovery authority.
Recovery Boundary
If a user loses both the .xbk backup and old device, Xentrop cannot recover the account for them. This is intentional and should be understood before onboarding.
Buyer Policy Fit
Serious buyers can define where backups live: local storage, encrypted drive, cloud drive permitted by policy, USB, offline vault, or another approved storage path.
